GAINESVILLE, DECEMBER 14, 2018 — It starts each year with live television helicopter footage of Interstate 35 making way as hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles & police escorts from around the State to usher our Nation’s highest decorated heroes from DFW Airport to Gainesville, Texas. Along the route, each overpass, median, & side streets are filled with patriots young and old who have made time to wave flags and hold up welcome signs for our guests.

That’s how you know Medal of Honor Host City Week has begun.

It’s no secret what the Medal of Honor festivities mean to Gainesville, it’s arguably the biggest event in town each year. In preparation for 2019’s festivities (scheduled for April 10th – 13th) the program enlisted local web development company, OGAL Web Design, for a complete transformation of their online presence.

In a digital age, it’s important to be able to connect with a global audience, and the brand new Medal of Honor Host City Program (MOHHCP) website aims to do just that. The modern platform includes information about all of the events throughout the week, the history of the Medal of Honor, an eCommerce store, online donations, and volunteer information.

What might be the most engaging feature of the new build is its focus on the recipients.

An entire section of the website has been developed to spotlight the brave Medal of Honor recipients who have visited Gainesville- highlighting their stories of how they earned our Nation’s highest honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor. Each story is more captivating than the last, and you can’t help but swell with pride reading about the sacrifices they have made to ensure our freedom for another generation.

“You have done an amazing job. We love the new look and functionality”

Tommy Moore, MOHHCP President, wrote on the organization’s Facebook in reply to Kyle Van Deusen, OGAL Web Design’s owner and the new website’s developer.

The new website is focused on raising awareness, increasing volunteerism, spotlighting Gainesville’s dedication, and highlighting the brave soldiers who have sacrificed more than most of us could imagine.
